HSAP Reporting of Hours and Assessment

Student Reporting of Hours

From the start date shown on the Apprenticeship Agreement, students may earn HSAP hours outside of regular school hours, including:

  • After school
  • Weekends
  • School breaks (winter and spring breaks)
  • Over the summer

If they desire, and their graduation plan allows for it, students are able to plan their timetables to allow time during the day to attend work to earn HSAP hours.  Any hours worked during scheduled in-school class time cannot be credited for HSAP.

Employers are responsible for reporting hours to Apprenticeship Manitoba through their online system.  Brandon School Division has no access to this data.

Student-Apprentices are responsible for reporting HSAP hours to the BSD Apprenticeship Coordinator using the BSD HSAP Report of Hours Form. This form should be completed by the student based on their pay stubs and signed by the employer. Original pay stubs are not required. The form can be submitted to the BSD Apprenticeship Coordinator:

  • after summer break, or
  • when total hours reach a multiple of 110 hours, or
  • 2 weeks before the end of each semester, and
  • by June 15 of the student’s graduating year.

Student Assessment

Employers are responsible for assessing student-apprentice’s skill level and progress with the assistance of the BSD Apprenticeship Coordinator. HSAP Assessment Criteria will be shared with the employer and the student-apprentice as part of the startup process, and reported using the BSD Employer Practical Assessment Form. Final marks and comments will be reported to schools by the BSD Apprenticeship Coordinator.
