School Bus Safety Week, observed October 19–23, 2026, is an annual observance dedicated to raising awareness about school transportation safety. It’s an opportunity for schools, parents and communities to come together to highlight the important measures needed to help ensure students travel safely to and from school.

School Bus Safety Week also recognizes the vital role school bus drivers play in keeping students safe. With approximately 3,500 BSD students travelling on school buses each day, prioritizing safety is essential to helping ensure every student gets to school and returns home safely.

We all have a shared responsibility to protect young passengers, emphasizing the need for proper conduct, adherence to traffic laws, and the implementation of safety protocols.

Pupil Transportation Unit – Manitoba Education & Training has created several school bus safety materials aimed at students and parents/motorists - check them out here: School Bus Safety/Ridership Education (gov.mb.ca).
