Experience the Spirit of Indigenous Culture!

J.R. Reid School will be having our first Indigenous Learning Festival! Tuesday, March 25th

It will be a  full day of hands-on learning, culture, and celebration! Explore traditional fur hunting and trapping, get moving with Indigenous dance showcases, and test your skills with moccasin games and active challenges. Learn all about Bannock making, listen to the rhythms of fiddle, guitar, and spoons, and connect with Indigenous knowledge keepers as they share their traditions.

We will Cap off the day with a school-wide assembly and a taste of delicious Bannock!

This is a incredible opportunity to learn, experience, and celebrate Indigenous heritage!

Please be sure to welcome to J.R. Reid our honoured guests:

Fur, Hunting & Trapping – Chris Leforte
Fiddle, Guitar & Spoons – Steven & Elvis DeMontigny, Harvey Pelletier
Bannock Making & Storytelling – Deborah Tacan
Indigenous Dance Showcase – Traditional Dancers
Indigenous Games & Moccasin Games – Josh Murray

It is with heartfelt thanks to Raven Willoughby for her freely given guidance to make this possible!
